Because of the snowy conditions last week and the school closure on Thursday and Friday, we will mark World Book Day on Thursday 8th March. Children are welcome to come dressed as a favourite "book character" that day.

As I mentioned in an earlier post we sold £1030.00 worth of books at the Scholastic book fair, which meant that as a school we received the highest return of 60% on the sales. Today those books arrived and are making their way to the reading shelves for the children as we speak! Thank you again for your support.

If, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have to make an unplanned closure of the school, we will use our text message service to let you know. However, if we do have a heavy snowfall and you think it is likely that the school may close, you can also tune into the following radio station: BBC Radio Nottingham 95.5FM and 103.8FM

Years 5 & 6 presented their Christmas production on Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th December to large audiences on both evenings. Thank you to everyone who supported them so well. All of our Year 6 pupils had a special individual role and they all did extremely well, acting and delivering lines. The singing was also super right through the production. Thank you to all the staff who helped to make these evenings such a success and to everyone who made a contribution to the charity appeal on the nights.

The children arrived safely at Edale and are now engaged in their first activities. Mr. Slater says that the mobile phone reception is very poor at Edale so we are unlikely to be able to share regular updates. We wish them a very happy time away together and look forward to their safe return on Friday.

All the children took part in the 'Speed Kick Challenge' today. Shooting into a large inflatable goal, they had the speed of their penalty kick measured. This was a sponsored event and so children raised money for the day, with half the money raised going to 'Newark Mind Charity' and the other half going to Westdale. A special assembly celebrating the fastest kick for both boys and girls in each class, along with the person who raised the most money, will be coming soon. Well done all, a great cause and a great event! Please can you ensure that sponsor money is in by THURSDAY 19TH OCTOBER 2017. Thank you.

Thank you so much to all who contributed to this year's Harvest Celebration. The children were very excited to perform during the special assembly on Wednesday and it was marvellous to see so many parent/carers, family and friends in the hall to support them. Once again, thanks to your generosity, were were able to help some really worthwhile local causes. The food donations have been taken to nominated local people in need, the local Trussel Trust food-bank and Framework, who where all delighted to receive them.
