We break up for the February Half Term holiday today and will reopen to the children on Tuesday 22nd February.
The children have been working hard during difficult circumstances this half term with staff covid absences meaning that there has been an increase in supply staff for some year groups. The good news is that Mr Middleton will be back in school and teaching 3M on Tuesday 22nd February.
Our Year 6 teacher, Mrs Anderson is expecting her second baby at the end of March and this week will be her last teaching week in class 6HA, however, she will still be in school after half term. This will give the 6HA children some time to transition to their new teacher Mrs Richardson, who will be teaching on Thursdays and Fridays. Mrs Richardson has worked at Westdale for many years and has lots of experience in Year 6.
A note from Mrs Anderson:
I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the children in year 6 this year and I will be starting maternity leave with many fond memories of the lessons and experiences we have had together. I want to wish all the Year 6’s the best of luck for the future and I am sure they will all achieve their potential at secondary school.
Year 3 visit to Creswell Crags
In connection with our Stone Age History work this term, we have been able to arrange a visit for Year 3 to Creswell Crags on Friday 25th March 2022. We will be travelling by coach leaving school at 9:00am and returning before the end of the school day. Therefore, could we please ask that children be at school no later than 8:40am for a prompt departure.
The children will need a packed lunch and a water bottle in a small rucksack, so that they can carry it easily themselves, sensible shoes and a waterproof coat. Please wear normal school uniform and comfortable shoes/trainers.
Children will be taking part in a Life in The Ice Age Cave Tour, Survival Skills activities as well as ‘Art of the Ancients’ – a fun art activity.
