Art Intent
Our art curriculum sets out to develop children to be critical, reflective artists who use their sketchbooks to reflect and make choices with their artwork.
Art should be used as a building block to prepare our children for their place as experimental, inventive and creative members of society. Our pupils will be confident in reflecting on artwork through studying great artists, designers and their work. They will explore their unique style and creativity whilst making links to other artists.
Pupils will be taught a range of drawing, painting and sculpture techniques to create their own artwork with independence and creativity. Our intent is to deliver an art curriculum which is accessible to all and that will maximise the outcomes for every child so that they develop an enthusiasm and enjoyment of learning and discovery. Progression in learning is clearly mapped from Year 2 to Year 7 in the attached knowledge progression grid.
