Geography
Geography Intent
Three pillars underpin our geography curriculum at Westdale:
Curiosity and fascination – of the world and its people
Where’s where – a sense of place at a local, national and global level
Change – a deep understanding of the impact human and physical processes have on each other
We aim to inspire our children to be curious about the world around them, and to develop their interest and understanding of diversity. Our geography curriculum fosters a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes and how they interact with one another. This extends to reflecting on the impact our actions have on our world and the responsibility we share in looking after it.
Our intent is to deliver a geography curriculum which is accessible to all and that will maximise the outcomes for every child, so that they develop an enthusiasm and enjoyment of geographical discovery which will remain with them for the rest of their lives. Progression in learning is clearly mapped from Year 2 to Year 7 in the attached knowledge progression grid.
