To continue our poetry unit, we would like you to read the poem Slowly by James Reeves.
Identify and pick out:
- What is the adverb in each line of the poem and what is it describing
- Which words rhyme and is there a pattern to this
- How many lines are there and how are these split up
- What comparisons are made
After you've had a go at analysing Slowly, try to write a poem in the style of James Reeves
Success criteria:
8 lines
First 6 lines starts with the same adverb (all 8 for the LA ability)
Contains a superlative / comparison in line 7
Has a rhyming pattern AABB CCDD
